Extrel offers a full System Controller, as well as a Scan Controller, both of which operate using Extrel’s powerful Merlin Automation™ Data System Software. Both controllers are modular and allow users to modify or add components as needs grow and change.

The Merlin Automation Command System is a full quadrupole mass spectrometer control system that includes the following features:

• Ion Optics Outputs
• 19” (48.26 cm) Rack Mountable
• Expandable for MS/MS Operation
• Accepts 110/220 V, 50/60 Hz power
• Electron Multiplier Detector Power Supply
• Analog and/or Pulse Counting Preamplifier

• Modular design that allows the addition of power supplies, control modules or specialized software modules, as best suits the application

The Merlin Automation Command System Scan Controller is a scan and resolution controller that can be upgraded with control and power modules to control additional mass spectrometer components.

• Accepts 110/220 V, 50/60 Hz power

Extrel also offers two Software Packages:

• Merlin Automation Data System Software
• Questor^® 5 Process Analysis Software

The Merlin Automation Data System Software is a powerful analytical software package that operates Extrel’s Research Command System, as well as Extrel’s MAX300-LG™ Laboratory Gas Analyzer. This software is ideal for understanding applications with a number of unknown components, or for applications that are constantly changing. It allows:

• Control of other components of an application using analog and digital inputs and outputs
• External data, such as process temperature and pressure, to be imported into the software and synchronized with the mass data
• Full control of all mass spectrometer components to optimize a system for each application
• Macro-driven software which the user can modify
• Mass data to be displayed in histogram, intensity, TIC or tabular forms
• Post acquisition data manipulation capabilities to be displayed in a number of formats with presentation quality

The Questor 5 Process Analysis Software is our seventh generation process software and provides secure access to your system and data. Features include:

• Automated operation, easy set-up
• Built-in security and reporting allowing users to meet government requirements for electronic records, such as those defined in 21 C.F.R. §11
• Direct connection from a workstation or from a plant network via a standard Ethernet or equivalent link
• Software which provides multi-level security for different levels of access, for various types of users
• Software which displays data in tabular and trend formats
• The display of component concentrations, intensities and derived values
• Web-based user interface, using Internet Explorer^® 5.0 internet browser or higher, which gives users access to all analyzer operations and data in a familiar web page format
