Environmental / Atmospheric
With the amendments to the Clean Air Act in 1990 and the subsequent expansion of concern for the environment, there has been increasing demand for analyzers to provide Emissions Monitoring. The speed, reliability, flexibility and detection limits available from the MAX300-IG Industrial Gas Analyzer and the MAX 300-LG Laboratory Gas Analyzer offer an effective solution for Ambient Air analysis.
Various government agencies which regulate the emissions of pollutants have developed lists of target chemicals, and have prioritized them depending on the level of concern. Certain Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPs) such as Benzene, Toluene, and Xylene (BTX) and Highly Reactive Volatile Organic Compounds (HRVOCs) are chemicals of particular concern and regulation.
Extrels MAX300 Series Process Mass Spectrometers have been used successfully in a wide variety of emissions monitoring applications. For example in the BTX application, the MAX300-LG and MAX300-IG have a benzene detection limit of 10 parts per billion (ppb); 100 times better than the EPAs Time Weighted Average (TWA) requirement of 1 parts per million (ppm). The analysis method of the MAX300 Series accurately subtracts interferences from toluene and xylene, thus eliminating false benzene readings. Fast response time enables analysis of a single stream in less than 10 seconds; 80 streams in less than 15 minutes. Due to its speed of response, component selectivity and unmatched accuracy and precision, Extrels MAX300 Series of Mass Spectrometers are the worldwide analyzers of choice for ambient air monitoring. Extrel has more than 70 ambient air monitoring installations worldwide with many analyzers in operation for over 15 years.
In addition to BTX, Extrels MAX300 Series of Mass Spectrometers and Gas Analysis Systems are also used to:
- Monitor Emissions from Semiconductor Plants
- Determine the Efficiency of Abatement Equipment
- Monitor Emissions from Car Exhausts
- Determine the Effectiveness of Catalytic Converters
- Determine the Amount of CO and CO2 being Emitted
For nearly 35 years, Extrel has produced process mass spectrometers for industrial applications with the reliability and performance needed for demanding applications in the toughest environments.
