Catalysis

Researchers studying the use of Catalysts strive to better understand how they function and respond under different conditions. Tracking the inlet and outlet of the reactor helps the investigator develop an understanding of the catalytic reaction. The composition of the outlet stream provides information about the reaction, efficiency and selectivity of the catalyst. For that reason, scientists rely on Extrel MAX300-LG™ Laboratory Gas Analyzers to provide the fast, accurate and flexible analysis needed to perform such laboratory experiments. The use of this benchtop system also makes scale up to production analysis easier since the MAX 300-IG™ Industrial Gas Analyzer is functionally similar but designed for pilot scale to full production environments.

Benefits of the MAX300-LG:

  • Fast analysis of approximately 400 ms per component
  • Continuous dynamic range of 100% down to 10 parts per billion (ppb) using a Dual Faraday and an Electron Multiplier Detector with auto ranging capabilities
  • Survey scans that identify unknown components or by-products
  • Flexibility that allows new components to be added to the analysis method via software; no hardware changes needed
  • Two distinct user interfaces (both software packages can be installed on the same analyzer)

The Questor® 5 Process Control Software is ideal for bench scale and pilot scale process research and development. This software is capable of monitoring an unlimited number of components, and can also utilize multivariate analysis for enhanced performance in complex matrices.

The Merlin Automation Data System is a powerful and flexible Mass Spectrometry tool for research and development projects. The Microsoft Windows® based software allows complete control over the ion optics, detectors, vacuum and other system hardware via an advanced Tune Mode. This system also allows the operator to monitor an unlimited number of components in Spectra, Single Ion Monitoring (SIM) and Trend modes.
