Encouraging the Next Generation

On April 1, 2016, Extrel participated in its 5th year as a sponsor of the Covestro Pittsburgh Regional Science & Engineering Fair held at Heinz Field.  The fair engages more than 1,200 students each year in grades 6 through 12 from 120 schools in the southwestern Pennsylvania region to develop projects related to STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math).  Extrel awards two prizes in the field of Senior Division - Chemistry category.  This year, Extrel selected the project, “Analysis of Arsenic in Oryza sativa” by Swata Alagar, Krishnan Alagar, and Indra Alagar from the Alagar Homeschool along with the project, “Which Type of Potato Makes the Most Effective Biodegradable Plastic?” by Drew Kolek from Freeport Area Senior High School.  Extrel congratulates these motivated and hard-working students.  A frequent judge for the Extrel award, Dr. Sean Pawlowski, Extrel’s Project Manager for the Research Market noted, “It’s always a very enjoyable and excellent experience to come see the young minds who are exploring science and the scientific method at the science fair.  As an instrumentation company, Extrel embraces the effort and passion to encourage young minds to choose science as a career choice and vocation.” Extrel continues to participate in the event to inspire future generations of scientists.
